Bude is a place known country wide for it's stunning beaches, quirky Cornish shops and general laid back feel. There are miles of sandy beaches in the area, all within minutes of our location. Widemouth Bay, approximately two and a half miles south, is a long sandy beach very popular with surfers. On Bude and Widemouth there are rock pools at low tide, where children can while away many hours with shrimping nets and crab lines.
The coastal paths are in abundance and the walk to Crackington Haven (10 miles) is one of the most picturesque in the British Isles. Being so close to the Devon border, visitors are within easy reach of Clovelly, Hartland Point, Westward Ho and many other North Devon resorts. Dartmoor is also just over half an hour away and Cornwall’s Bodmin Moor is closer still. Bude is therefore ideally situated to tour both Devon and Cornwall. There is also Bude’s Splash fun pool with its wave machine for the not so sunny days. So in Spring, Summer and Autumn, Bude offers something for everyone!
This is possibly one of the best sites we have stayed at in these Covid times.
A lot of thought has gone into safe distancing and protection of the guests.... read more Every entrance to the site had hand sanitiser fitted to gates or posts each and every water waste and dustbin sites had sanitisers, the site amenities were regularly cleaned at different times of the day. This left you feeling very safe. The site is well maintained and looked after. The rear exit to the site gives you a direct route to the South Coast path, approx 350 metres. A quick walk from the front entrance all downhill gets you to the Bude canal in about 10 mins, it’s a few mins more on the way back as it’s uphill all the way. It’s not steep and easy uphill walking on the footpath. The staff and owners were very helpful and very informative about the local area.
We had a great time and will be looking to visit again next year.
